On February 10th, the Swiss Red Cross held its second Charity Gala at the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz. The event raised the sum of 671’000 francs to help improving the health of children, mothers and people in need.
For one exceptional night the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz was transformed into a jungle. A jungle, which set the mood for the 380 guest of the Swiss Red Cross Gala 2018.
The theme of this year’s Gala was Ecuador and the guests came to support the country’s poor population. They did this through generous participation in a live auction held by Andreas Rumbler, Chairman of Christie’s Switzerland, a silent auction and a tombola with exclusive prizes that are not available for money otherwise. By the end of the night the guests had raised the astonishing sum of 671’000 francs.
The proceeds from the gala will be used to support health projects in Ecuador. In parts of the country, the population lives in extreme poverty and under critical hygienic conditions. Especially in the remote areas of the country, where the population has little access to medical care, the Swiss Red Cross provides assistance. Doctors, dentists and medical assistants travel regularly to these regions to provide basic health care. Our people in the field focus on supporting pregnant women and young mothers with their children who are particularly susceptible to diseases.
